The DISJ kindergarten consists of two groups: our 3-4 year-old caterpillars and our 4-5 year-old butterflies. Everyone spends their free time playing together. This allows the little ones to learn from the big ones.
We begin with morning circle time, which we use to introduce new topics and discuss the daily routine. The topics are based on the different seasons and traditional festivals in Germany. We select songs and creative activities to match the themes, and if possible, we round off the program with an excursion.
To help our kindergarten children get started with German, we offer German as a foreign language (DaF) lessons three times a week. Here, the children are introduced to the German language in small groups in a playful way, with their learning level gradually increasing. After the second year of kindergarten, they move on to preschool. This year is the preparatory year for first grade. Through various exercises and games, the preschool children learn to concentrate, practice perseverance, and develop mathematical and logical reasoning skills. In addition to the language-sensitive daily routine, special German language support for non-native speakers also takes place here.
In general, it is important to us as educators in these early years to give every child the opportunity to develop their own personality, become independent, and discover the world around them.
To this end, we want to provide a space of comfort and security where the child can grow up in a loving and familiar atmosphere, feeling comfortable and respected.
